Paul McCartney & Nancy Shevell Tie the Knot in London

Ready to embark on their first getaway as husband and wife, Paul McCartney and new wife Nancy Shevell were spotted leaving their London, UK home before setting off on their honeymoon earlier today (October 10).

The Beatles rocker and his American heiress bride were all smiles as they departed, waving for the cameras as they hurried into an awaiting car.

Paul and Nancy tied the knot in an intimate yet elaborate ceremony held at Old Marylebone Town Hall on Sunday afternoon, where the likes of Kate Moss, Barbara Walters and Twiggy enjoyed their special ceremony.

With McCartney clad in a blue suit, his lady wore a long-sleeved ivory gown designed by his daughter, Stella, which was accented with a matching flower tucked in her hair. The two exchanged vows in front of around 30 onlookers including Paul's former bandmate Ringo Starr and Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood.

As for the wedding festivities, a nuptial insider told The Sun that attendees watched McCartney "sing and play guitar as he unveiled a ballad specially written for his new wife, which brought tears to the groom's eyes. DJ Mark Ronson - best friend of John Lennon's son Sean - took control of the disco as the happy couple enjoyed their first dance."

McCartney also doted his lady with a glitzy 5 carat ring, telling the guests on-hand of the wedding, "It was terrific," while noting that he now really feels "married."

This past Friday (October 7) Paul McCartney and his bride-to-be could be seen enjoying a romantic night out on the town, as they dined at Cecconi's restaurant in Mayfair, London.

Looking very much in love, the former Beatles band member and his American heiress fiance were arm-in-arm as they breezed past paparazzi upon finishing their evening meal.

The sighting came just as news outlets were reporting that Sir Paul and Nancy were days away from tying the knot.

According to the Daily Mail, the bride and groom were "given special dispensation by the council to marry on Sunday and have chosen what would have been the groom's former bandmate John Lennon's 71st birthday for their big day." 

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell were engaged earlier this year. The two met in the Hamptons shortly after the singer's divorce from Heather Mills in 2008. It is the former Beatle singer's third marriage.
