Is Pay-to-Flush Entitlement Program on Horizon?

Whatever you do, my loyal readers, please don’t let anyone in Washington, D.C., find out about this news reported by Reuters Monday:

Last month, authorities in a southern Indian state fined people caught urinating in public view for a few days. This week, officials in a remote town started offering people money for using public urinals.

News about India’s pay-to-flush entitlement programs must be squelched before anyone in Washington, D.C., finds out about them.

In my book, this ranks right up there with public school officials in places like Baltimore and Atlanta paying students for performing at or above expectations on tests, attendance and other criteria. Sure, it results in cleaner street corners and drier sidewalks. In this country, however, pay-to-flush schemes like the one developed in India stand as ripe targets for members of elected officials to convert into “black hole” entitlement programs for the nation’s homeless population.

Again, I plead for you, my loyal readers, to keep this news out of reach of elected officials in the nation’s capitol — and, for that matter, in most state capitols. Your future and mine depends upon it.
