The players’ auction for the sixth edition of Indian Premier League is underway at Chennai.Many of the teams already have settled outfits from the previous two auctions but a few key purchases from a pool of 101 cricketers could give a side the winning edge.

The highlights of the auction are as follows.

Ricky Ponting bought for base price of $400,000 (Rs 2.1 crore) by Mumbai Indians at the IPL players’ auction.

Indian pacer R.P. Singh bought for $400,000 (Rs 2.1 crore) by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

South African all-rounder Johan Botha bought for $450,000 (Rs 2.3 crore) by Delhi Daredevils.

Australia’s Michael Clarke bought for base price of $400,000 (Rs 2.1 crore) by Pune Warriors.

Australian batsman Luke Pomersbach (base price $50,000) bought for $300,000 (Rs 1.5 crore) by Kings XI Punjab.

Australian all-rounder James Faulkner (base price $100,000) bought for $400,000 (Rs 2.1 crore) by Rajasthan Royals.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (base price $200,000) bought for 1 million USD (Rs 5.3 crore) by Mumbai Indians.

Indian all-rounder Abhishek Nayar bought for $675,000 (Rs 3.5 crore) by Pune Warriors.
