Only one thing can kick Miley Cyrus off the top Twitter trends list... rocks from space! Thanks to last night's meteor shower, the #meteorwatch out-tweeted #WeLoveYouMiley, whose very existence depresses me. After the (somewhat anticlimactic) pole-dance video, Miley was all the twage, but a kick-ass meteor shower showed her who the real star was. The Perseids slew the Disney Kraken.

The #meteorwatch Twitter topic, launched ahead of the two-day Perseids meteor shower peak which began on August 12, became a "trending topic" with an estimated 10,000 tweets, according to a Newbury Astronomical Society Twitter-monitoring programme.
