Pete Doherty Gets Jail Term after Robyn Whitehead Overdose
Pete Doherty Jailed for Cocaine Possession
Pete Doherty, former frontman for The Libertines and Babyshambles, was sentenced to six months in jail for cocaine possession. This will be Pete Doherty's third jail sentence. To be honest, we've lost count of how many times he has been arrested for drug-related offenses; The Guardian puts the Pete Doherty arrest count at 13.
Robyn Whitehead Overdose
Pete Doherty's latest jail term is in relation to the death of Robyn Whitehead, heiress to the Goldsmith family and filmmaker who made a documentary about The Libertines called The Road to Albion.
While Pete Doherty and friend and fellow songwriter Peter "Wolfman" Wolfe were present at the time that Robyn Whitehead overdosed (the incident took place at Wolfe's flat), neither were directly blamed for her death.
Robyn Whitehead's overdose, though, pointed police at Doherty and Wolfe, who were arrested and charged when drugs and paraphernalia were found at the flat. Peter Wolfe was sentenced to 12 months in jail.
