Picard as Macbeth?! Beam me up!

Happy New Year, Sci-Fi/Lit Nerds (c'mon, I know I'm not the only one): the BAM in Brooklyn is presenting a modernized staging of Macbeth starring--drumroll--Patrick Stewart! I don't know about you guys, but for me this puts the "Ah!" in "theatAh!" Anyone want to sponsor some tickets? If I can get this warp drive back online, I think I can make it to Brooklyn in a few lightyears. Geordie?

It doesn't open until mid-February, but we suggest you get your seats for this Macbeth, coming over from England, now--when Patrick Stewart starred in the Tempest twelve years ago, tickets were swept up in a flash. Star Trek aside, this is a chance to see a world-class Shakespearean actor in one of the playwright's greatest roles. Expect twists: This is one of the darkest, most modern Macbeths you'll ever see, on a stark stage that combines a hospital and a slaughterhouse.

Nice find. I hope he somehow manages to match his recent material on Extras. Not sure how he could work naked ladies into Macbeth though.

This version of The Scottish Play has been running in rep at the Chichester Theatre Festival, along with Twelfth Night. Meanwhile, Stewart is no stranger to iambic pentameter, rocking Shakes since 1958. He hasn't done Merry Wives of Windsor, though. (I think he's "only" done Hamlet on film, though)

Ah yes, Patrick Stewart--my personally autographed picture from him , mentioning my NASA work, is one of my favorites. He's a very nice person. Swooooon.

This meeting was organized by the Patrick Stewart Network after his run as Marc Anthony in "Anthony and Cleopatra" and Prospero in "The Tempest", which also featured one of Ben Kingsley's sons.

I went to London for vacation and accidentally saw this :)
I tried to get tickets for the show but they didn't had any left.

1 or 2 weeks later there was Ian McKellen
in King Lear also with no tickets left.

X-Men reunited :)

I saw the production in London, and it was very, very good. The nurses (witches) were fantastic, and PS is a class act.

Hi, I was for a really short time in London so I wasn't able to see Patrick Stewart in Macbeth but I would like to see him in any play, not only in the movies.
The reason behind this picture is: Wow, Stewart in Gielgud theatre! This two great names deserve to be shot by my humble self...

The Gielgud theatre version of Macbeth, which has been very popular for London Theatre Breaks is supposed to be moving to New York in February!

I don't have any doubt that Patrick Stewart will make an excellent Macbeth...He's got a terrfic range as an actor and a voice born for the stage. At one time I would have done just about anything to meet him. (There's no shame any more in admitting you're a trekkie, right?) But then came along the London MCM Expo 2007. I know a lot of it was down to the organisers of the convention so "Boo" to them but that didn't stop me from being dreadfully disappointed with Mr. Stewart. Seemed to me that he was doing his best to avoid his fans. This photo kind of makes it look like he was signing autographs...Actually, what he was doing was putting his head down and trying not to make eye contact with anyone as the workers around him ordered us all to move out of the way and stop taking photos. (I don't listen well.) I'm really, really hoping that it was just an off day and if I ever get the chance to meet him again, he'll be as lovely and charming as everyone has said he is. Not that I could afford the time or money to get the chance to meet him again. I was lucky, I guess. Hundreds of people paid to get into this convention because they thought they'd get to meet him and hundreds were turned away disappointed. Guess I'm just more stubborn than most...
