WALL-E (NEW OFFICIAL MOVIE TRAILER)
From gourmandizing rats and superheroing families, Pixar's next step will be into the robo-world of Wall-E. Disney and Pixar showed off the first half-hour of the film (link to Latino Review's review, spoiler alert) along with some of their other projects in the pipeline through 2012, which range from 2D "classic" animations to a Philip K. Dick adaptation, a second Cars film and another Toy Story sequel.

Check it out:

They opened with half an hour of Wall-E, but the real news followed that immediately. He said he was going from one extreme to the other. WALL-E comes out in a few months, so he wanted to follow-up that presentation with his Christmas 2012 release.

WALT DISNEY’S KING OF THE ELVES, based on the Philip K. Dick story about a gas station attendant who receives a knock on the door one rainy night. It’s a group of elves. Small, maybe a foot tall each. They are all green, with leaves and foliage growing off of them.

They beg him for shelter from the storm. Despite his better judgment he allows them to stay and as reward he is made king of the Elves.

Found Wall-E and Eve statues at nearby Cinema in the city the other day. They are soon to be premiered in the US, but it might take few months until we get it here in Australia.

Now, I just have to comment with the design of character Eve. Isn't she way too simple? Just a couple of NURBS- spheres and cylinders? C'mon Pixar! (almost like Apple's design). I am not a big fan of Eve's design. It is almost like a ghost shape and not so cute for a female alien. Check CJ7 for an example of nice and simple character design. I guess the simplistic character is really the most flexible to animate, but I am hoping that one day Pixar really takes on more layered and complex character, not just in term of design, but also the personality. In fact, I have a feeling that Wall-E does have deep and complex personality.
