for disrespecting the people buried in the space behind her - their headstones were raized, pushed up against the Berlin Wall and then buried as the Death strip was built during the cold war. As if it wasn't bad enough that they died during WW2, they were then disturbed in eternity....

Feb.9, 2009 - St. Hedwig's Cemetery
This cemetery, visible from the North/South running Berlin Sbahns, was once cut in half by the death strip of the Berlin Wall. Today, grafiti covered remnants of the wall remain on one end, a huge strip of grass marks graves of the War dead (whose headstones were removed and crammed against the wall as fill dirt) and former "death strip" and the remaining graves and chapel are split into two sections. One in the East, one in the West. Apparently, during the cold war, those families of the people buried in the cemetery could not visit the graves of their loved ones due to the proximity of the wall.
