Police Incident at Waterfront Station

I had some excitement on the commute home today. Still half asleep from my skytrain ride, I ambled out of Waterfront Station and noticed a pair of harassed-looking policemen...no big deal, this is downtown. I started to wake up as I headed to my bus stop and noticed an undercover unmarked cop car and an ambulance driving like crazy through 5:30 traffic.

After pulling large firearms from the trunk of their car, the pair of undercover plain clothed RCMP officers ran into the building. This further piqued my attention. Once armed, the two cops did a reconnaissance of the building, then went to check out the skytrain. I learned from a bystander that at least one officer had scouted the seabus.

Anticlimactically, the party ended as abruptly as it started when the five officers involved congregated in the main waiting area of the Station (near Starbucks). They made some small-talk, shrugged their shoulders and went their separate ways.

One of the commenters said the following:

Gah, I get this all the time in my Vancouver community blog/forum "I saw cops at this place, at this time, anybody know what they were doing?"

If you really care that much, rather than make a pointless post here (who really cares) go to the VPD website - each day they brief for the press all of the notable police incidents of the day before. They then post this information online You can almost ALWAYS find out what was going on by checking this out.

I couldn't find the information referenced above.  If anyone has details please send them along.
