The Prado Museum in Spain has joined forces with Google Earth with the intention of offering the public the opportunity to zoom in on a number of the galleries finest pieces.  In true Google Earth fashion, one can even see details that are not immediately apparent to the naked-eye.

Google Spain director Javier Rodriguez Zapatero said the images now available on the Internet were 1,400 times clearer than what would be rendered with a 10-megapixel camera.

The central idea was to give those not able to experience the paintings in person access to at least a fair representation of them.

"There is nothing comparable to standing before any of these paintings, but this offers a complementary view," Rivera said.
