NP Rank:
Predictable: 'You lie!' now shouted by Dems, Gays
Of course this was predictable, and the level of discourse sinks lower, although I dare say as a Nietzschean I certainly enjoy the range of passion, and though I love Obama dearly and place him beyond all realms of good and evil, I thought GOP South Carolina House Representative Joe Wilson seemed rather prankish and roguish when he interrupted Obama with his outburst.
A San Francisco political fundraiser with a surprise cameo by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ended with boos and calls of "you lie!" and "kiss my gay ass."
Which raises the question: Did San Francisco Democrats who razzed the GOP governor give him a well-deserved bashing or sink to a new low in political incivility?
Experts said that the unusual evening of political theater at the Fairmont Hotel Wednesday, punctuated by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano's raucous remarks to the governor, was more than just an eyebrow-raising YouTube moment.
It was a reflection, they said, of the raw anger and frayed nerves in the state capital after a year of devastating budget cuts. It also showed how relations between Democrats, who control both houses of the Legislature, and the GOP governor have deteriorated, with Schwarzenegger threatening to veto hundreds of bills if lawmakers don't agree on a state water plan.
But the reception San Francisco Democrats gave to a governor who said he was aiming to spread a little bipartisan goodwill also illustrates how "civility has degraded generally in politics," said Barbara O'Connor, a political science professor at Cal State Sacramento.
"There's the partisanship in the mainstream media, the talking heads who scream, and that sets a tone that is disrespectful."

Wonder if that will make the evening news anywhere other than California?
Certainly not on NBC, CBS, nor ABC (if i'm wrong - i'll be the first to admit it), likely not on PBS or CNN either.
Another example of getting only the news we need to know, i guess.

"civility has degraded generally in politics," said Barbara O'Connor
I have to agree with Barbara O'Connor. Civility has been in decline markedly since August, one would think that Congress people would view themselves as leaders in meaningful, civil debate on issues. What has happened to political confrontation through the exchange of ideas in a manner that is respectful to the arguments and wrought with solutions?
Personally, it is embarrassing to the people of California to see their elected officials turning a fundraiser into a locker room.

Dear Ms. SMK,
It has come to our attention in the Border Patrol of the Land of Good and Evil that for some reason you have placed Obama outside of the bounds of our fair land.
As you may know, all Human Beings are required to stay within the boundaries of our fair land of Good and Evil as long as they remain in the flesh, charged with what has been deemed "soul power", a causal body of sorts that, once invested entirely, moves the human out of blind reaction and places him or her under the rubric of reason and conscience.
Our group would ask on what basis Obama was qualified to be placed "beyond Good and Evil" and wonders if this was not some kind of primitive Superman projection, a deification derived from a Shadow element gone very, very rogue, as it were?
"Out of love" would not seem to explain this assignment of powers un-wordly, as any woman knows about her husband.
Sincerely,
Janus and Company.

Dear Sirs of Janus and Co.:
I realize I am reckless to place the President of the United States "in the realms beyond good and evil", but I read too much Nietzsche in my youth, my favorite book of his being, "Beyond Good and Evil". In addition, I have stuck in my head the past 20 years his quote on his friendship with Richard Wagner:
"and here I give vent to a last sigh. In whatever realms there exist beyond good and evil, I will always place him. No cloud ever darkened my sky when I was with him; I experienced, I revered him as a foreign land. All my treasons ceased when I saw his face."
I was fortunate enough to see then-Senator Barack Obama during the campaign; I stood rather close to him. As he passed, the very air crackled with charged electricity. He has a sulking look on his face, his eyes scanned the gathered press arrogantly, but twinkly softly as they would light on you. "All my treasons ceased when I saw his face."
Put that in your Van Couver pipe and smoke it, harumph! *flounces off*

This is unfair and illegal, 'smrosky', as you have already admitted this is your other account on Now Public.

Dear gentile Signora,
Thank you for your quick and very pointed supply. I regret to inform you that I have had to quit smoking my favorite "Illusions" tobacco because, as you know already, when you smoke "Illusions", first you smoke them. Then the "Illusions" smoke themselves, and then the "Illusions" smoke the smoker. :)
I will grant that inhalation-and-exhalation does do the job well of raising up disembodied feeling by moving it up the chakras from below the diaphragm where it can be "made flesh". But inhalation-and-exhalation must be confined to "reality-based-atmosphere" or else the clarity of the astral field is distorted, muddied, and the relation to the causal body is weakened.
I believe it was all well described in the famous "Very Big Corporation of America" scene in Monty Python's "Meaning of Life".
Sincerely,
Janus and Co.

What was that about wearing hats?

No. That was from the Holy Grail when they confronted the enemy. Remember? "Now, take your silly Kanigggits, and get out of here!"

Dear J. & C.:
To stop smoking illusions for some would be to stop living. In certain lives stress keeps one alive. I hold no illusions: I pretend to hold illusions.
And one word to you, Mr. used-to-look-like-Sean-Connery-now-looks-like-the-bartender-up-in-Provincetown: "Submit now to the law which you yourself proposed." Touche.

That makes absolutely no sense. :)
