Many people thought it was an April Fool's Day joke, but the story appeared on Oprah so it must be true. Thomas Beatie, a pregnant man, revealed the ultrasound of his baby to Oprah. Since Oprah had him on, the world is now buzzing once again about this bizarre story.

A transgender man who is six months pregnant said in an interview aired by Oprah Winfrey on Thursday that he always wanted to have a child and considers it a miracle.

"It's not a male or female desire to have a child. It's a human desire," a thinly bearded Thomas Beatie said. "I have a very stable male identity," he added, saying that pregnancy neither defines him nor makes him feel feminine.

good stuff:

For me, part of what makes this newsworthy is how it went from fringey story to mainstream once it hit Oprah. Countless visitors worldwide will take this as a stamp of authenticity, though she's been burned before (I'm thinking of the James Frey debacle)
