President Obama Celebrates 50th Birthday with Party in Chicago
Kicking off his celebration a day early, President Barack Obama headed back to his hometown of Chicago for his 50th birthday festivities, in which he spoke to over 2,400 fans in Uptown's historic Aragon Ballroom last night (August 3).
According to ABC News, each of the estimated 1,000 attendees paid between $50 and $35,800 to secure a seat at the event, which was a birthday party-themed fundraiser.
Joining Mr. Obama for the joyous occasion was a bevy of other famous faces, including fellow Chi-town star Jennifer Hudson as well as famed drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and the city's mayor, Rahm Emanuel.
As for the musical entertainment, Hudson, Herbie Hancock and the rock group OK Go all took the stage throughout the evening, the American Idol star singing "Happy Birthday" to the President.
Mr. Obama, who will spend tonight celebrating with close family and friends, revealed his excitement over his favorite birthday present while at yesterday's fundraiser. "Malia is coming home from camp tomorrow just for her daddy's birthday. I'm very happy about that."
Continuing onward with the fun during the milestone occasion, the entire Obama clan will head to Camp David, where they will enjoy some quality time with their near and dear friends the Whitakers and the Nesbitts.
