Pride People
I was going to take pictures for some friends putting together a float for the Vancouver Pride Parade, but I never did meet up with them. I couldn’t find them in the massive crowd. Instead I tried to capture some of the color and energy of the moment.
It was a blistering hot day in Vancouver, one of many weeks of recording-breaking temperatures and unprecedented forest fires. I stopped in the shade and took out a handkerchief to wipe my face. A young man approached me and asked what was going on. He was visiting from another country and was unaware of the event. I said it was the Pride Parade, He didn’t understand, so I said it was to show that gay and lesbians are part of our community. He seemed to understand and replied, “lesbians and homosexuals?” I said, “Yes”. He quickly turned to me with a funny look. I thought he was either ready to make a hasty retreat, or he was trying to determine if I was gay. Then he said, “Good”. I nodded, and he said, “Good in Canada.”

Amazing photos Jerome! We thought we'd share some of our pics from the weekend too (although I've got to say- ours don't hold a candle to your shots!)
