Prince's Television Debut: American Bandstand
January 26, 1980 saw a great moment in rock 'n' roll history. On American Bandstand, Dick Clark introduced the nation's TV audience to Prince.
Prince was 19 years old at the time, and American Bandstand was his national television debut. After performing "I Wanna Be Your Lover", Prince began a tradition that continues to this day: the tradition of trolling the people who interview him.
Check out the video below and see for yourself. This is rock 'n' roll history. "I Wanna Be Your Lover" is from Prince's 1979 self-titled record, which was his second studio album. Prince has been busting out explicit dance moves and lyrics ever since.

PRINCE was actually 21, having been born June 1958. It's a rather different distinction, as it can present a different impression of his abilities compared to his age.
