After Kylie Minogue's star turn in last year's Dr. Who Xmas Special, the bar was raised for guest appearances. Well, there's one special guest star who certainly won't be appearing in this year's Xmas Special: Prince Charles.
Speaking at The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, Dr. Who's Executive Producer, Russell T. Davies, revealed that Charles had been approached to perform a cameo role in the ever-popular BBC series.
Joined on-stage by actor John Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack Harkness in the hit series, Mr Davies OBE [said]: "He turned us down, the miserable swine."
Mr Davies, considered to be the leading force behind the 44-year-old show's revival, recently announced his tenure as lead writer and executive producer would end in 2009.
The 45-year-old Welshman resisted giving away any secrets about the forthcoming specials or next series to the crowd in Cheltenham.
‘The other guests and I were given a tour of the grounds,’ [said Barrowman,] ‘and because I drink a lot of water before I sing, I needed to use the bathroom. But we were a quarter of a mile from the house, and there was no way I could make it back in time. So the guide said, “Well, do what you like and I’ll turn a blind eye.” So I took a pee in one of Prince Charles’s bushes. Afterwards I said to the guide, “If there are any complaints, tell Charles it’s organic…”’
