Prince Says The Internet Is Over. Everyone Go Home

Prince will only be distributing his newest CD with a British tabloid. Okay. There will be no (legal) digital version. This is because Prince loves attention but seems to hate technology. In fact, Prince tells The Mirror (which is, funny enough, distributing his CD), "The Internet's completely over."

Oh. Well, okay then. But wait. There's more. Prince goes on to say, "Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."

He stopped short of saying anything like "I fought the war for you hippies!" or "Get off my lawn!"

Mind you, Prince used to be all about the Internet. He was selling mp3s before iTunes was a glint in Steve Jobs' eye. Now, though, he's a-scared of file sharing. Huh. I guess he doesn't want to reach new fans.  That's cool, but he won't be reaching old fans, either, if they can't get to his new music.

There's just nothing sensible about this move. At all.

Thanks, boingboing, for the heads-up on this one.

I just want to know from what distributor will you sell your new CD in the United States? Last year it was Target?  Also, how can I get one of those black tambourines with the gold "Prince Love Symbol on it?"  Pfunk--on!

Gee I have to go to a store to find my music in stead of not ever moving from my computer screen? I have to face a human being in order to pay for my music? I'm scared! PRINCE! YOU RULE!

LoL. This is funny news. Yeah, sorry Prince, you may be a legend but I'm afraid the internet will be around longer than you would be. But he does have a point. The internet can be a scary place. And I don't blame artists, film producers, etc, for hating the internet. It's a place where pirates rule and their hard work is being replicated without their permission (or them getting any royalties).

So funny news.

I always thought his music sucked. It is supposed to be sexual but damn it is an instant turn off. Lady Gaga is sexy to me in a strange one night stand domination way. Man I have issues.

He is so out of touch... This whole thing gets me to wonder about his state of mental health... GEEZE
