'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' Trailer Released
The first official trailer for Disney's upcoming video-game-turned-action-movie, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starring Jake Gyllenhaal was released giving fans a taste of what to expect from one of Summer 2010's most hyped blockbusters. Gyllenhaal grew out his Donnie Darko-era school boy cut for a mane of lion's proportions, hit the gym hard, and donned an accent for the role of Prince Dastan in, what looks to be, a legitimate video game-inspired film. From the director behind Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Max Newell, the movie stars former Bond girl Gemma Arteton, Alfred Molina, and Ben Kingsley alongside Reese Witherspoon's main squeeze.
Set in medieval Persia, the story of an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Which is why after the prince was tricked by a dying Vizier to unleash the Sands of Time that turns out to destroy a kingdom and transforms its populace into ferocious demons. In his effort to save his own kingdom and redeem his fatal mistake, it's up to the prince and the princess to return the sands to the hourglass by using the Dagger of Time, which also gives him a limited control over the flow of time.
