Puis Njawe Has Died in a Car Crash in Virginia
Puis Njawe, journalist, publication director for Cameroon newspaper Le Messager, and activist for freedom of the press in Cameroon has died in a car accident while on a visit to the United States.
Reports are scarce at this time, but it is thought that Njawe was travelling with a few other people on Interstate 664 when their car got a flat tire. Shortly after they were struck by a tractor-trailer. Njawe was pronounced dead at the scene, but the driver is currently in critical condition in hospital.
Njawe had been jailed a number of times for fighting for freedom of the press in Cameroon and has been the focus of a couple of Amnesty International reports over the years.
He had previously lost his wife in a traffic accident in Cameroon, after which he founded an association to promote road safety in the country. He was the recipient of numerous awards and his death will no doubt leave a hole in the African media world.
An investigation has been opened in to the crash and there will be plans made to bring Njawe's body back to Cameroon.

papa NJAWE as fondly called was an easy going man who stood for justice and fought for his people.most importantly he was God fearing and trusted in God.we love and miss him but we know God loves him most and has decided to take him from us with a reason beyond human reasoning.May his gentle soul rest in peace.
