Queen Elizabeth is very old. In fact the oldest British monarch ever. Today at 5pm local time she surpassed Queen Victoria who held the record with 81 years 243 days.

Queen Elizabeth has become the oldest British monarch ever, ousting Queen Victoria from the long-held spot.

The 81-year-old moved past Queen Victoria at around noon ET or 5 p.m. local time, according to Buckingham Palace.

Victoria, who was born on May 24, 1819, lived for 81 years and 243 days.

What a difference a day makes. This is certainly the Queen's most horribilis annus horribilis ever, to be declared "older than Queen Victoria." That's pretty much like saying "older than Methuselah." Poor woman!
