R.I.P. Keyboard Cat: Good Night Sweet Prince!

By now you're no doubt familiar with the internet delight that is Keyboard Cat. The delightful feline who plays people off just after horror strikes has become an internet sensation and is now spreading to mainstream media.

One sad little fact that the media has unearthed is that the Keyboard Cat himself passed away many years ago, no doubt after being hit in the groin with a golf ball or some other unforeseen yet humorous tragedy. 

According to a report by CNN's Jeanne Moos, the keyboard cat's real name is Fatso, a fun-loving cat from Spokane, WA. The cat's owner Charlie Schmidt dressed Fatso in a baby outfit, gave him fake puppet arms that he controlled and videotaped him tickling the ivories. The video has no doubt made the world a better place, but sadly Fatso didn't survive to see the joy he brought us all. 

The CNN report not only highlighted the death of the Keyboard Cat, but potentially the death of the Keyboard Cat meme itself. When Jeanne Moos thinks something is funny, it's only a matter of time before your aunt will be forwarding you Keyboard Cat e-mails from her AOL account (a welcome respite from the e-mails you receive from your racist uncle about how Barack Obama is a secret Muslim with a fake US birth certificate).

In a time when people are quick to declare memes dead in an effort to seem above it all, let us be among the first to declare the Keyboard Cat meme dead. Good night sweet prince!
