R Kelly's World Cup 2010 Song Sign of a Victory: Lyrics
R Kelly Created a World Cup 2010 Song in Collaboration With the Soweto Spiritual Singers
R. Kelly's new song Sign of a Victory was created for the World Cup and Kelly said he hoped he can reach as many people with this song as he did with his 1996 hit I Believe I Can Fly.
He performs the song with the Soweto Spiritual Singers and we have uploaded an unofficial version video for you to see below.
Kelly said, in an interview on Wednesday (June 9), "It's definitely no doubt a humanity song, and I'm hoping that everybody feels the same way when they hear it. I'm hoping they can be as touched by it as I was when I heard it in my head."
Lyrics to Sign of a Victory:
I can see the colors of the rainbow,
and I can feel the sun on my face,
I see the light at the end of the tunnel,
and I can feel heaven in its place, and that’s the sign of a victory (x2)
I can feel the spirit of the nations
and I can feel my wings ridin’ the winds, yeah
I see the finish line just up ahead na
and I can feel it risin’ deep withinand thats the sign of a victory (x2)
Now I can the distance of the journey,
high and front with all your might,
you open your eyes to global warming,
been through it all, you sacrificed your lifeand that’s the sign of a victory (x2)
If we believe, we can achieve anything including the impossible this I know so lets lift up our heads and raise the flag yeah yeah and scream like you want to win now let the games begin!
that’s the sign of a victory (x4)
when you keep on fightin’ , after you lost your strength
that’s the sign of a victory
when darkness is all around you, you still find your way
thats the sign of a victory
come on and sing, lift up your voice and sing, stand up, oh yeah, stand upsign of a victory
ooooohh ohh ohhhh

Did you see R Kelly give the black power salute! And the Zimbabwean dictator Mugabe was an invited guest for the ceremony!

Yes Mugabe was there but can we crucify him on such a day when someone sat down to compose a song to unite all Africans at home and abroad-i don't see the message you are trying to put across here, you could be worse than Mugabe. Those are the elements we are trying to flush out Zimbabwe is a peaceful country yooh, take it easy on yourself. Let us say it for ourselves. What do u know about Zimbabwe-we are hating such people like you with the element of negativity. Easy heyy

Yes, I saw the salute, dreadful. So this is a song to unite people then? Reverse racism in action. I didnt know Mugabe was there but clearly the media was being well behaved and not wanting to make as scene as they didnt show it.

I find it sad that people still think in this manner!!!!! I am a South African and was crying whilst watching this song as it filled me with such a sense of being African and just remembering all that our country has been through and to have this momentous event happen in a country that certain sectors of the world thought was going to not be able to host the world cup properly. We have proven them wrong! The salute is a sign of liberation for us! Why should we be ashamed to show the raising of the arm in salute! We salute the Mandelas, Mbekis, Sisulus, and every ordinary citizen that has liberated us. Such racist thinking as exhibited by ken and cinimod should be denounced. I am of Indian decent as my forefathers brought from India to here but India is not my home...AFRICA is!!!!! I AM AFRICAN! and proud of it!
