Jewish Renewal in Israel, the only rabbi from the Jewish Renewal

movement leading a congregation in Israel is Rabbi Ruth Gan Kagan.

Brought up in a national religious Jewish family in Jerusalem, years of

standard orthodox traditional observance and behavior brought her and

her British born husband to seek a different, more creative and

spiritual way to be Jewish.

She received ordination in the US from Rabbi Zalman Schachter Shalomi

and returned to Jerusalem to found and lead congregation Nava Tihilah
