Race 2 Box Office Report: Weekend Earnings of Race 2 | Box Office

Abbas Mustan’s Race 2, consisting of A-list actors like Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Anil Kapoor, is the first major official hit of 2013! Surprisingly, the two big banner promising films – Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Sudhir Mishra’s Inkaar, which released in the first two weeks of January failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office and had the industry and trade experts worried about the lackluster start.

If trade analysts are to be believed, Race 2 opened to packed houses at the mass centres while multiplexes in cities witnessed a huge jump in the evening shows and over the weekends. “The film had a robust Friday and showed exceptional growth on Saturday. Although the business went down slightly on Sunday, the film held very well on the third day (Sunday). Now ranks amongst the biggest openers.
