This last year the unthinkable happened again. Non comic book fans raced to specialty comic stores to pick up the Presidential Comics from IDW. Store after store found new customers looking at their stock and watched more sophisticated eyes twinkle as they left with more than they came for.
It has happened again.
Ken and Kevin Jones of Imperial Comx have released Corruption to great applause from the non-traditional fan. Early response from enthusiastic readers indicates that this is the non comic readers comic book of choice. "I hate comic books but this book is amazing" Joseph Short writes, and 8 out of 10 purchasers of the book in a recent test were new customers who were usually browsers.
What’s the secret?
IDW tapped into the huge potential of the US election, but this time, the Jones (father and son) have combined to create a book that deals with topics torn from the headlines of today. While it appears to be just another vigilante style comic book hidden at its core is a surprise that few readers will be able to guess. The father and son two-man war against all things connected with drug addiction that seems to be the central theme of the book only masks something deeper and more sinister.
