An
actual painting belongs to the real world: it has WEIGHT. You can hang it on
the wall, you can touch it, smell it, and even destroy it.

A photo of an actual painting published on the WWW belongs to
the virtual world: it has dimensions, it has color, but it has NO WEIGHT. You
cannot hang it on the wall, you can not touch it, smell it, or destroy it – at the most you
can delete it.

Nowadays
, there’s a third possibility: you can gather the artists that published their
creations on the WWW and hang their (virtual) works of art on the walls of a real
gallery. You may call this  Real
virtuality
as contrary to virtual reality.

An
example for this new trend is materializing these days: The Magen David Album
Exhibit shows 25 actual works of art that were published during the last two-years
on

 http://star-of-david.blogspot.com/

All
the works deal with the Israeli national emblem- the Star of David. Artists who
met on cyberspace will shake hands and SPEAK with each other starting from

17th
April 2008, 20:00, at Beit Sokolov, the Government Press Office, Tel Aviv,
Israel.
