New York based non-profit Jamaica Impact, Inc. (JAMPACT), an avid community activist organization promoting basic education and positive cultural images for the children of Jamaica, are hosting their first full scale charity gala, A Roots Rockin' Royal Affair, featuring a runway fashion and music showcase, at Marcus Hall in Jamaica, NY on September 20th 2008.

Proceeds from A Roots Rockin' Royal Affair, which is themed around celebrating the more "Roots & Culture" aspects of Reggae-inspired fashion and music, will benefit JAMPACT's four adopted basic schools-Cole's, Crescent Road, Maxfield Park, and St. Stephen's Basic Schools-located in some of Kingston, Jamaica's challenged inner-city communities.

Featuring spokes model Tina Ingram, fashion model and former finalist for Miss Jamaica World, and JAMPACT ambassador Reggae/Soul artist Ky-enie, A Root Rockin' Royal Affair highlights some of New York's popular Caribbean-inspired fashion brands like VP Record's Riddim Driven Clothing Company, Siren Swimwear, Soft Lines, Eye Collection, and Chaconia Intimates.

Born of the vision that Jamaicans overseas have access to resources and opportunities that can benefit and improve health, education, and social conditions for Jamaicans back home, JAMPACT has been central to raising awareness and funds to combat issues that have plagued Jamaica's rural and inner-city communities. Earlier this year the organization's Education Committee launched a tuition assistance initiative that will support JAMPACT's adopted basic schools' teachers and administrators in pursuing higher education and professional development in the field of education.

"JAMPACT is committed to not only supporting our basic schools, but to supporting basic education in Jamaica and within Jamaican-American communities," states JAMPACT vice president Akelia Lawrence. "As JAMPACT moves into another decade, we are trying to integrate more social and cultural elements into our fundraising events, and expand our reach to raise as much as we can to support our cause, and most of all, our children."

JAMPACT president Kamar Samuels agrees, stating that "this benefit fashion show falls in a historic moment, when we celebrate our ten year anniversary. We are committed to continuing to offer quality programs and raise funds to further JAMPACT's mission."

A Roots, Rockin', Royal Affair's official media partner is Irie Jam Media, with additional media support from ZYNC TV.
