Rhianna & Mos Def Hit Theaters 2009

International R&B/pop superstar Rhianna is poised to hit the silver screen again, this time alongside Rapper/Actor Mos Def. The new flick entitled “Black Widow Mama” is directed by Darren Grant, credited for the blockbuster black drama, “Diary of a mad black woman”.

The film is an adaptation of the same titled 1969 novel by Robert “Iceberg Slim” Beck, portraying a black family’s migration from the southern Mississippi fields of the segregated south, to the ghetto of Chicago in the mid 1930’s.

The story follows Otis Tilson and his struggle to keep his family bonded, as they weave this new world filled with alcoholism, pimping, sexual deviation, and racial conflict. Told in the gut level language of the original novel, the family’s journey is a harsh testament of lives lived on the margin.

Also featured to appear in the flick is the multi talented Macy Gray, Kerry Washington and Anthony Anderson. “ Black Mama Widow” is now in the final stages of production and is set for an early release in 2009.
