Richard Belzer from Law and Order SVU Accused of Choking Milan Agnew, an Apple Employee
Richard Belzer who plays Sgt. John Munch on the TV show Law and Order SVU was accused on Wednesday of choking and shaking Milan Agnew, a 21-year-old Apple store employee in the Manhattan Apple Store. Agnew claimed that Belzer entered the store grabbed her and then started yelling 'I need help' according to the NY Daily News. She has since filed a complaint against the actor for harassment.
Richard Belzer however, told TMZ he never choked the Agnew and says the store surveillance footage will prove he is telling the truth. He says that he was waiting in line at the store when Agnew approached him to ask if he needed help and he put his hands on her shoulders and said he would. That is when he said she started to freak out and called 911. He has not been charged with a crime.
Agnew's grandmother told the NY Daily News that her granddaughter was upset Belzer was not charged.
"She told me, 'Nana, he didn't just touch me, he choked me and really scared me,' " said Anita McKnight.
"My granddaughter is petite, just 5-feet-2 and she's a dancer so she doesn't have much body to her. Where does this man come off putting his hands on her?"
Police did show up at the store and Belzer was allowed to go free after the police viewed the surveillance footage from the time of the incident.
Witness Jonathan Fox said that Belzer should not have been allowed to walk.
"If it was one of us, we'd be locked up right now," Fox said, noting that after the incident, Belzer was waving to people and shaking hands.
