Rick Sanchez was fired six day ago from CNN for calling Jon Stewart a bigot and questioning whether Jews should be called a minority.
The Associated Press reports that Sanchez has apologized to Jon Stewart and anyone else he may have offended with his "inartful remarks" made during a radio interview.
In a statement, Sanchez said that he had a "very good conversation" with Jon Stewart on Monday. He also said that he had high regards for CNN, which was his employer for six years.
There is no confirmation from Comedy Central that Stewart and Sanchez had spoken, since Sanchez comments during the radio interview.

When a Jew is unceremoniously fired, like Rick Sanchez was, then I'll see Jews as a minority.
Minority doesn't merely speak to numbers, it speaks to status and power. That's what Rick was talking about.
John Stossel, a Jew, supports the "right" to discriminate, for privately owned businesses. Do you think his discrimination permissiveness is inclusive of Jews? I don't think so . . .
Every time media summarily, and publicly, fires a high profile person, that person is a person of color.
I heard that CNN said all Rick has to do is apologize. Is that going to be like when Isaiah Washington was told to keep his mouth shut, go to rehab, make a public policy statement of behalf on gays, and to apologize to gays, and he still got fired . . .

I personally don't see this as a racial issue. Lou Dobbs was unceremoniously let go by CNN, although it may not have been as high profile and as open as Rick Sanchez.

Despite offending almost everyone on the planet, Lou Dobbs wasn't fired, and when he resigned, he was give $8 million in severance pay!!! Very different than, the public firing that Rick Sanchez got.

Two points: 1. We don't know what Sanchez got in severance benefits; and
2. Dan Rather is another white guy fired.

So far, YOU HAVE NOT PRODUCED A HIGH PROFILE "WHITE GUY," IN MEDIA, WHO WAS PUBLICLY FIRED since Lou Dobbs wasn't fired, and Dan Rather wasn't fired either. Despite plunging ratings, and a purportedly, inauthentic report on Bush's military record, "CBS fired multiple members of the CBS News staff (for Dan Rather's failing), but allowed Rather to stay on, despite under-performing and producing sub-standard work, Rather was kept on until he resigned when the chatter on his Bush report didn't abate.
Rick Sanchez probably won't get severance unless his contract requires it. Another lesson in minority status, minorities only get what they are legally entitled to.
For people like you, it isn't enough that others are not treated fairly, you don't even want the fact of discrimination to be acknowledged. But acknowledged or not, it exist to the extent that after Mark Todd, a Diasporan, told his superiors that he brought down the Fort Hood shooter, his superior attributed his accomplishment to a white female, when she couldn't have told them that, because she was in the hospital, undergoing surgery.
If you don't like the way things are, instead of trying to define things, as what they are not, you might want to consider trying to make things right . . .

Hargrove I am not trying to define things. I live in Canada and I am glad that the race card isn't played here the way it is in the United States. The fact is Sanchez crossed the line. He is apparently not suing CNN, so in his mind it is justified.
