Rick Sanchez Fired: Jon Stewart Comments On 'Stars' Comedy Night
Rick Sanchez Was Fired From CNN Last Friday and Jon Stewart Made Some Comments About in on Saturday Night
Fans of Jon Stewart are hoping he will address the comments made by Rick Sanchez last week on his show on Monday night, but the famous comedian did make some allusions to the 'Sanchez incident' at Comedy Central's 'Night of Too Many Stars'.
David Letterman even got in one joke about the incident.
Rick Sanchez was fired from CNN after he made some comments on Stand Up! with Pete Dominick last Thursday.
Sanchez called Jon Stewart a 'bigot' and said that 'everyone who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they - the people in this country who are Jewish - are an oppressed minority? Yeah' (said sarcastically).
According to the Hollywood Reporter, on Saturday night Jon Stewart brought up the issue in his opening monologue.
In talking about how people should donate for autism education, for which the show raises money, Stewart said: "If you went on radio and said the Jews control the media...you may want to hold on to your money."
Stewart also said that all Sanchez has to do is apologize to the Jews and then they will hire him back.
David Letterman got a joke in as well, when he came on as a surprise guest and joked that he was just helping Sanchez clean out his office.
Even Tom Brokaw got in on the fun in an appearance later in the evening in which he took a jab at Sanchez as well.
This night of comedy will air on Comedy Central on October 21, but many are hoping Stewart will talk about it on Monday.

Jewish people are, pound for pound, the most well off people in the United States. A great percentage are college educated and have professional occupations. They are incredibly disproportionately represented in government and the media. what's the freaking big whoop? Everybody knows this. At worst, these simple facts tend to suggest high achievement and perhaps a bit of nepotism, not too bad really. But, when you fire someone for pointing it out it looks EVIL and oppressive.
