Rihanna Calls Chris Brown Controlling and Insecure in W Magazine

In the February 2010 issue of W magazine Rihanna opens up about former flame Chris Brown in a decidedly candid and scathing manner, calling him "controlling" and "insecure." Unlike her interview with Diane Sawyer in 2009, Rihanna's interview for W shows a wiser and more mature side of the Barbadian singing sensation.

There were control issues, insecurity,” she says. “When people are insecure they become very controlling and they can get very aggressive and in turn abusive. It doesn’t have to be physical. Like they would say bad stuff to you to make you feel lesser than them just so they would have control in the relationship. It takes a big toll on your emotions and on your everyday life. It changes you.”

The fiercely-fashioned starlet also talked about the notion of being a "voice for young girls" who have dealt or are dealing with similar relationships. She explains her position in the public eye forced her to be open about the incident and it was that openness that helped her to move past it.
