Rima Fakih, 23, was crowned Miss USA 2010 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

A Lebanese-American, Rima Fakih is believed to be the first Muslim to win the crown of Miss America.

Miss Fakih told pageant judges that her family celebrates both the Christian and the Muslim faiths.

They moved to Michigan in 2003, where she was later crowned Miss Michigan.

Pageant officials said competition records were not detailed enough to confirm if she is the first Arab-American or Muslim woman to win the contest.

Born in Lebanon, Rima Fakih came to the USA as a baby and settled in New York with her parents. The family moved to Dearborn, Michigan in 2003 where Fakih competed in beauty pagaents where she was crowned Miss Michigan.

The Miss USA prize package includes a custom diamond tiara (which Ms. Fakih received at the end of the night from her Miss USA predecessor, Karen Dalton), a modeling portfolio shot by the same photographer responsible for the racy contestant photos, and a one year scholarship from the New York Film Academy. The winner is expected to represent sponsors and charities during her reign.

Here is a bit of education for every one: Lebanese are not Arabs. They are Lebanese, even Phoenician if you must have a label. Lebanon is on the Medditeranian Sea, and , yes, part of the Middle East. However, historically, they are Phoenicians

Wow, somebody here has anger issues! Why don't you learn how to first use the english language correctly, and then perhaps you can move on to learning how to at the very least use a spell checker. Nobody is jealous of this little Miss USA, but it is rather interesting how she is a Muslim and is parading around on stage half naked??? Thought those poor women would be publicly flogged for that?
