Canadian film maker Brett Gaylor recently debuted his documentary, RIP: A Remix Manifesto in Austin, TX at SXSW.

The documentary serves as a social commentary on copyright and the emergence of "remix culture." RIP profiles the ongoing online music piracy war that has been going on since Napster originated 10 years ago. Gaylor delves into the current copyright issue of mixing, mashing, and remixing in our digital era. The film exposes and expresses the blurring of users and producers, only possible with Web 2.0.

The documentary follows a remix artist named 'girl talk' that takes samples off music he downloads from the internet and remixes it in to his own tracks.

RiP: A remix manifesto is an open source documentary about copyright and remix culture. Created over a period of six years, the film features the collaborative remix work of hundreds of people who have contributed to this website, helping to create the world's first open source documentary.
