Just Before Eclipse Hits Theatres, Robert Pattinson and Stephanie Meyer Could be Related to Vlad the Impaler - the Inspiration for Dracula

According to Ancestry.co.uk, Robert Pattinson may not only play a vampire in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series, but he might actually be related to Vlad the Impaler, who is cited as the inspiration for the name of 'vampire' and for Bram Stoker's 1897 character of Dracula.

So what is this mysterious connection dating back hundreds of years?

The link is in the British Royal Family. Prince William and Prince Harry are distant cousins of Robert Pattinson's and Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (Vlad the Impaler) is the Royal prince's distant uncle.

"Tracing Pattinson's family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to the Twilight Saga," said Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com. "Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson's life — making his story just as supernatural as the one he's playing on screen."

Stephanie Meyer was also found to be connected to the British Royal Family and as a result Vlad the Impaler.

Who Was Vlad the Impaler?

Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia ruled Wallachia from 1456 to 1462 and was known for his resistance against the Ottoman Empire expansion. His name 'the Impaler' was not an accident; he gained a reputation for doing terrible things to his enemies, most notably, impaling them on various instruments before torturing them or leaving them to die.

The famous novelist Bram Stoker was the one who turned the man of Vlad the Impaler in to the legend of Dracula, but he was not the first mention of vampires in folklore. He was perhaps the most famous vampire in literature, until Edward Cullen anyway.

Either Twilight has gone to their head, or maybe it's just because they're retarded...No one in Vlad's family survived, so it would be IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to be related to them. Some people are just to stupid and too lazy to do research (coughstephaniemeyercough)...
