Robert Shapiro Has Been Hired by Lindsay Lohan to be Her New Lawyer

She is due to turn herself in to begin her prison sentence on July 20, and her new lawyer Robert Shapiro will not appeal her 90-day ruling according to TMZ. He will however, be pushing for Lohan to spend her sentence in rehab and to have her jail term eliminated or minimized. RadarOnline reports that Lohan has also checked herself in to a sober living home called Pickford Lofts run by Shapiro.

Robert Shapiro gained fame in 1994 when he was part of the OJ Simpson legal team.

Sources are speculating that Shapiro may have more of a personal interest in this case, as his son Brent died in 2005 from a drug overdose. As a result, Shapiro started The Brent Shapiro Foundation, aimed at raising awareness about drugs.

With his experience with rehab facilities, Shapiro will likely try to convince Revel that Lohan needs rehab not jail. Sources tell TMZ that he has a specific place in mind -- a live-in facility that he has connections to.

Despite being five days away from turning herself in, Lohan is reportedly adamant that she is not going to jail and blames her previous lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley for her sentence. There were rumors that Lohan had hired Tiffany Feder-Cohen as her new lawyer but those turned out not to be true.

RadarOnline spoke to Danette Meyers, the prosecutor handling the case, who said that asking Judge Revel to place Lohan in a rehab facility will just be a big waste of time.

"It's a really a moot point to ask Judge Revel to send Ms. Lohan to rehab only as Judge Revel has already sentenced her," Meyers told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

Lindsay Lohan is a convicted individual and should indeed spend a few days in a jail cell to help her understand that continuing her distructive behavior patterns will certainly destroy her career and perhaps her life.  At age 24, she is being given one last chance to GROW-UP. Lindsay is a good actress;  however, she is a lousy drunk at times and is not above the law in LA or anywhere else.  Extremely few 24 year old males or females have an opportunity to hire an Attorney like R.S. or visit a plush rehab facility like he is associated with. That experience will be very worthwhile for Lindsay if she indeed wants to get better control of her life and move on with her career. Lindsay does:  however, need to be shown the other side of life - the punishment side of life when a person does something against the Laws of the land - SHE NEEDS TO GO TO JAIL FOR A WEEK OR TWO - SHE IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW AND NOT PUTTING HER IN JAIL WILL NOT HELP HER AT ALL TO UNDERSTAND THAT DOING SOMETHING WRONG IS NOT ACCEPTABLE IN OUR SOCIETY.  She should be treated like any other person entering jail in the area.  I KNOW SHE WILL MAKE IT!!

These are words spoken from a lady, myself from experience n the addiction pattern and  the denials of being a alcoholic.    I got 4 driving while intoxicated charges against me in a 6 yr span. Until I went to the county jail for 10 months, I stayed in denial till this happened to me, and let me tell you when it did.........that was it for me, I have been sober for 11 yrs now.     As for Miss Lohan it would be wrong for any lawyer or judge to suspend any of this womans jail time. She needs it for herself so that she can sit and think about what she lies best, being drunk, high on drugs or locked up. Looks like she has had many of years partying and if this 90 days in jail don't break her then nothing will.    Miss Lohan will end up dead somewhere or killing some innocent human being becasue she was not sent to jail to have time to think about whats best for her.       I hope and pray that this Joudge does not give in and that she does do the whole 90 days in jail, plus the rehab, I hope someone reds this and Miss Lohan can red it too, hopefully someone will be listening....                           Debbie Fair     Celina, Ohio 45822

I am going to correct a couple things.......I hope and pray that this Judge does make her do the whole 90 days plus the 90 days in rehab, and I also hope that someone reads this and hopefully Miss Lohan reads these comments about herself, she needs to read all of them. I also hope that this comment touches someone else...........
