The Gap Band Bassist Robert Wilson Dies in Los Angeles
Robert Wilson, bassist for The Gap Band, has passed away on August 15 at age 53 from a heart attack.
Known as "the godfather of bass guitar", Wilson was still active up until his death, and was scheduled to perform at a music festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 28.
The Gap Band consisted or Robert Wilson and his two brothers, Charlie and Ronnie.
The group scored UK hits in the 1980s with Oops Up Side Your Head, Big Fun and Party Lights.The trio grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and soon began honing their musical talent singing and playing in their father's Pentecostal church.
Robert Wilson is survived by his wife and two daughters.
