Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Welcomes Tom Waits, Alice Cooper & More
2011 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees: Tom Waits, Dr. John, Darlene Love, Alice Cooper Band, Neil Diamond, Leon Russell
March 14 was a big night for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as inductees from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines were welcomed into the fold. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
- Cross-genre master storyteller Tom Waits was inducted by Neil Young
- New Orleans voodoo jazz king Dr. John was inducted by John Legend
- Shock-rock outfit Alice Cooper (the band) was inducted by Rob Zombie
- Pop legend Neil Diamond was inducted by Paul Simon
- Girl-group mainstay Darlene Love was inducted by Bette Midler
- Legendary session musician/songwriter Leon Russell was inducted by Elton John
Dr. John's bright purple suit seemed to warrant a "breaking news" update from the AP. As John Legend said, Dr. John has never stopped flying the flag of funk.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will be broadcast on Fuse TV, which is sort of a random premium channel that you may not actually get, on March 20. You can see the inductees performing some signature songs in the videos below.
