Roman Polanski Taken to Hospital in Zurich

Roman Polanski, the film director who has been detained in Zurich for the past three weeks over child sex offence charges, has been taken to a nearby hospital to have tests; reports have said that he is 'worn out'.

The Swiss newspaper Blick reported on its website that Polanski was taken to a hospital in the Zurich area on Friday morning.

It quoted a legal source in Bern who said the hospital stay "was probably nothing serious".

He has previously had to be in hospital for a few days to treat a pre-existing medical condition; some are concerned about the health of the 76-year-old director.

A final decision on whether Polanski will be released on bail is expected in the next few days.
