Rubbish TV: Big Brother to be axed in 2010
Some good news at last:
It has been confirmed Big Brother will be axed after next year's show. Channel 4 says the programme will finish in 2010, with the 11th series, because of consistently poor viewing figures for the current show. It is understood Channel 4 has decided not to renew its Big Brother deal with Dutch programme-maker Endemol.
And, why did it take so long?
I am tired of all those irritating money-grabbing,shallow, fame wannabees, people who would do anything 'just to be famous. The whole pointlessness of it all.
Why not have them stuck working in the slums of Brazil or on a environmental project instead? As least that would be useful. . Big Brother was rubbish TV at its most rubbish.
One of those cringeworthy moments I won't forget is that a politician such as George Galloway, MP, was on it and doing utterly gormless things like pretending to be a cat.
I don't have a TV anymore, particularly because of this kind of dross. Axing this programme is a start. Now what about, those irritating 'property' shows too? We don't need three property shows in one morning on three separate TV channels. One is bad enough, but three is saturation.

This is the finest day of my life I think. I stupidly got hooked on the show for the first couple of series, but although I've weaned myself off the habit for the last 3 or 4 years, it's still remained a depressing part of my existence through friends and the inescapable "news" stories it keeps spawning ("Shock as ditzy fame-addled chick lounges round in bikini!!!")
Good bloody riddance.

Too right, then there is that awful 'build up' media drivel, that goes on whole a month before Big Brother, and endless 'kiss and tell' stuff during and after, to pad out even more 'toilet paper' magazines:-0
The world is a better place without it.

It's what the on/off button is for.

Now there only two dozen more reality shows to get rid of... (even Hell's Kitchen gets old)

Fan-flipping-tastic. Seven years too late, but good news nonetheless. Friends and I were talking about it at the weekend and remarking that it really must be on the way out by now. And here it is!

Can't say I'm glad to know that TV is as bad in England is as it is here (U.S.). I hope that same happens in the U.S. Good writing Beaulieu!

Women's magazines in the UK are drenched in this stuff. Every time we get surveys from these magazines, I always state No More Big Brother, all over it. (it's worth a shot, but there was never any end in the magazines. Seven years.. good grief, have we had that much?)
The On - Off Button is there, of course, but you can't escape the papers that have BB all over it, and all those sickly interviews.

I hope it happens in the US too, for your sake, and sanity Caj1.

How is it that the UK version of Big Brother is canceled and the US version, which no one has ever really watched, persists?

This is, 5 years too late!

I'm sure they will just replace it with some other tripe
at 03:34 on August 27th, 2009
Yes, and a lot worse tripe too.

Glad to see.

I'm halfway considering pitching a new reality show: Search for the Reality Show that Replaces Big Brother. It hinges on getting Gordon Ramsay to come by to scream at people.

Jordan, I tell you now, if you dare to involve Ramsey in another TV show, reality or not, you and I WILL have words. We might even fall out!

Bet there will be BB documentary in 10 ten year's time 'Whatever happened to the Big Brother Comtestants?".

Will there be a domino effect of Big Brother programmes being axed round the world? Who is next for The Grim Reaper?

Well im sad to hear it's leaving the air, i have wanted to be on the show, first to see if i could win and then get my 15 mins, im not rich or selfish and wanting my 15 mins would be to help my family maybe have a chance at a better life. but it's so sad when a show like big brother gets picked on and taken off the air, but shows like for the love of money, i love newyork, the real world, the bachlor, the real house wives, get to stay on the air, the real world is about nothing but fighting, drunk, have sex with anyone show, and the real housewives is about women who bitch about problems we would love to have, like getting a flat tire on my bmw, or not having the right wine glasses for a party, dumb shit. or shows like my sweet 16 where teens show disrespect to their parents having these expensive birthday parties and getting pissed because they got a range rover and not a bmw. i think some of us in society have brain rott, when we will only watch a reality show if it contains sex, drinking and fighting, or women throwing their body's at one man, or shows like the couger, about a older woman looking for a younger man, now while there is nothing wrong with that, it's like the bachlor and bachlorett. you are kissing several people which is unclean swapping spit with 10-20 men or women. not to mention shows like that are for people with money, have you ever seen a security officer or grocery clerk on the bachlor or the couger, NO! because poor people don't deserve to be happy or have a chance at something more. big brother is one of the few shows where you don't need to be rich to be on, so why some of you are so happy big brother is leaving the air next year, i feel your energy would have been beter spent working to get those others i named off the air, cause i would let my kids watch big brother b4 i would the real world or i love newyork. big brother should have been last on your list if on your list at all.
