Run DMC, Jeff Beck, Metallica Headed for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The Roll Hall of Fame made its official announcement on Wednesday that hip-hop royalty Run D.M.C. and rockers Metallica, along with artists including Jeff Beck, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Bobby Womack, Wanda Jackson and others, will be inducted in the hall's 'Class of 2009'.

An induction ceremony will be held on April 4, 2009 in Cleveland and broadcast live on Fuse TV.

The performer inductees are:
Jeff Beck
Little Anthony & the Imperials
Metallica
Run-D.M.C.
Bobby Womack

Sidemen Category Inductees:
Bill Black
DJ Fontana
Spooner Oldham

The 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twenty-five years after their first recording is released.

Not bad choices at all, especially since Metallica just released a pretty good album. Run DMC are American cultural immortals.

metallica was in top form as they performed material from their latest album "death magnetic", fitting seamlessly with classics spanning their 25 year plus musical legacy. the show was their last stop on the first leg of their world tour.....coming home to the bay area for a festive spirited show. this photo is of james hetfield, front man and guitar god, captured by a humble i phone - 10.20.08. a night that will long be remembered.....fondly :) i can't think of a band more worthy than metallica to be inducted in to the hall of fame.
