Today it's all about Russia. From the dissolution of the government to the testing of the mother of all bombs. This story is about sex though (isn't every good story).   The sparsely populated Russian province of Ulyanovsk, which proudly touts itself as the birthplace of Lenin, has declared September 12th the "Day of Conception" and given workers the day off to be fruitful and multiply.

Workers in a Russian region have been given today off to have sex in a bid to boost the birth rate.

Today has been declared the Day of Conception in Ulyanovsk, Lenin's birthplace, when couples are told go to home and multiply.

And if you were wondering what is the motivation, other than simply holding that bundle of joy in your arms.

If they succeed they could win a car, cash or a fridge.

Under the city council's "Give Birth to a Patriot" scheme, those who give birth on June 12, Lenin's birthday, will get a prize.

And the grand prize...a 4x4 (albeit locally made). But that's only if you birth a patriot.

The winning couple of the grand prize - a locally made 4x4 car - are judged by a committee on criteria such as "respectability" and "commendable parenting".

So they're dropping the F-Bomb!

I wonder how many Russians are having sex at this very moment?

Not many.  All the men are watching Russia losing 2-0 (39th minute) to England in a EURO 2008 Qualifier.  I doubt they will be in 'the mood' if their team loses.

Update: they lost 3-0 to England, so they are probably in a foul mood.

Gryphon, you can certainly spoil the mood for some now.  Course they may be drunk by now, HAHAHA.

Ryan Nadel, maybe they're looking for some new hockey players after canada thumped them in the junior "super series". Now that's good stuff.
