Sun Blessing Festival will take place in Safed, Israel on Passover Eve, April 8th, 2009. Sun Blessing happens, according to Jewish tradition, once in 28 years, at the time when the sun returns to its position on the day of the Creation of the World.

The Festival’s events will occur in all parts of the city, but the main ones will take place in the Citadel and the Southern Spring.

Among the Festival happenings will be a mass burning of the hametz using magnifying glasses and the sun’s heat, and a performance of Rabbi Karlebach’s songs; these happenings will require a separation between men and woman by a special standing partition. For this purpose, artists in Israel and abroad are invited to send images of their works on the topic of the Magen David to Reli Wasser noam_art@netvision.net.il. These images will be published on the partition, which will be 20 meters long and 2 meters high.
