You know a movie based on Greek mythology is bad when Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is a masterpiece by comparison.

In Clash of the Titans,  Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation) stars as Perseus, a demi-God who must defeat the kraken before it and its owner, Hades (Ralph Fiennes), God of the Underworld, takes over human civilization.

Director Louis Leterrier (The Transporter, The Incredible Hulk) is known for action over story and character. Perseus fights demons, beasts, and Gods in spectacular action scenes, but the 3D can't compensate for an uninvested audience.

Unlike Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and How to Train Your Dragon, this film was converted to the format at the last minute to cash in on the fad - and it shows. It has the worst 3D in recent memory. It's sad when Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brendan Fraser is a better 3D experience.

Rent the original Clash of the Titans 1981 version with Harry Hamlin instead. With the recent increase in 3D prices there's no reason to waste your money.

It's a shame, really. It could have been great.
