Samantha Ronson's Dog Attack Launches Criminal Investigation
Samantha Ronson and Her Bulldog Cadillac Are Part of an Animal Control Investigation After the Dog Mauled a Maltese to Death
Samantha Ronson is able to keep ownership of her dog for now as it did not attack a human, but reports state that she is part of probe from animal control to determine what happened on Monday. She may have sent the dog away to live with her family in New York for now.
"It's a pending criminal investigation," Deputy Director Michelle Roache of the Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control exclusively tells E! News. "The attack is substantial."
Once the investigation is complete then the case will be presented to the district attorney and it is up to the court to decide if the owner will lose the dog or if the dog will be euthanized.
Ronson took to her Twitter account on Monday to express her extreme sadness at what happened:
I feel incredibly sad and wish I could offer more than condolences, unfortunately there are no words to describe how sorry I am.
The dog that died has been identified as a two-year-old Maltese terrier named Tiger, who can be seen in photos at a recent 'Pattern for Paws' charity event.
It is thought that Ronson was sleeping while a friend of hers allowed Cadillac to leave her apartment and that is when it came across Tiger and his owner in the hallway.
Britain's Daily Mail reports that Ronson's bulldog has previously bit another dog in the building and was sent away to a dog-camp for three weeks. He had only been back for five days before the attack happened.
"We don't believe there was a bite to any person," says Roache. "If the dog has bitten a person it has to be quarantined for 10 days and we don't allow the dog to leave the state."
