"You Betcha! Sarah Palin is coming to TLC"

So it is official. Sarah Palin will get her own show, and it will be aired on TLC, a TV network owned by Discovery Communications. The eight-part series with a work title Sarah Palin's Alaska will premiere on TLC and will essentially offer a look at Alaska through the eyes of "one of the state's proudest daughters" former Governor Sarah Palin.

The rumors of Palin getting her own TV show surfaced earlier this month. It was alleged both Discovery and A&E Networks were in negotiations with the former Governor for rights to Sarah Palin's Alaska. But, Discovery secured the bid in the end. Palin will now be up against TLC's other hits American Chopper, Cake Boss and Addicted, competing for the ratings. There are rumors that Palin could be paid as much as $1.5 million per episode of the show.

Palin picked possibly the best person to do the job. Mark Burnett will be the show's executive producer. His past work includes Survivor and The Apprentice.

"Our family enjoys Discovery's networks," said Governor Sarah Palin. "I look forward to working with Mark to bring the wonder and majesty of Alaska to all Americans."

Although the central focus of Sarah Palin's Alaska is to educate the audience about the state, no doubt Palin's headline grabbing family will appear on the show as well. Palin's Vice Presidential nomination was tainted when her seventeen-year-old unmarried daughter Bristol Palin and her underage boyfriend Levi Johnston announced that they were expecting a baby. The two were set to wed, but the couple broke their engagement in March of last year.
