MGM has just announced that two-time Academy Award Winning actor Sean Penn will play Larry in the Farrelly's Brothers adaptation of the Three Stooges short films from the 1930s. The studio has also said that they are in the process of casting Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. Shooting begins in the Fall for a 2010 release.

Penn was brilliant as Milk. Let's see what he might do with Curly.
As a little girl, I thought the Three Stooges were hilarious. My parents did not. Now when I stumble across the trio, my reaction falls somewhere between that of the child and her mom and dad.
