Seinfeld co-creator and producer Larry David has revealed that a Seinfield reunion will appear in the next season of his TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Seinfeld was a popular and successful TV sitcom that aired July 5, 1989, to May 14, 1998, and remains in syndication. It starred comedian Jerry Seinfeld as a fictional version of himself and became an icon of pop culture, with many phrases from the show becoming embedded in pop culture language.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is a comedic TV show that features a fictional version of David as a semi-retired, well-known television producer, in addition to fictional versions of his friends in real life.
Though David has long insisted that there would never be a Seinfeld reunion, he said he found the idea of producing a reunion in the context of Curb Your Enthusiasm amusing.

After years of saying no to the idea of a “Seinfeld” reunion, Larry David told reporters why he conceded and wrote a reunion into the upcoming season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”:

“I always said no. We would never do that, it’s a lame idea. And then I thought it might be very funny to do that on ‘Curb.’ And I kept thinking about it, and started to think of different scenarios. I called Jerry, and Jerry was game. I called the others, and we did it.”

Instead of a full Seinfeld reunion episode, viewers instead will see the episode being written, rehearsed, and filmed within the frame of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Seinfeld cast members will play themselves, leading some to speculate if the Michael Richards (known for his role as Kramer on Seinfeld) controversy over racist remarks made would appear in the show, as well.

“It’s possible,” David teased. The reunion show will play out in “Curb’s” season finale, which could be expanded into a one-hour episode.
