Legendary Sex Pistols lead singer Johnny Rotten, who once sang "there's no future, no future for me" seems to believe he has a future as an advertising pitchman.
The ads end with the tagline: "It's not about Great Britain, it's about great butter."
For a lot of music fans, it's also about the death of punk rock.
Decked out in an English gentleman-style tweed outfit, Lydon - whose used the stage name Johnny Rotten - features in adverts for Country Life butter which will hit screens in October.
As part of his first television advertising campaign, Lydon gallivants around various British locations as he tries to decide why he thinks Country Life butter is his favourite brand.
The ads end with the tagline: "It's not about Great Britain, it's about great butter."
For a lot of music fans, it's also about the death of punk rock.

We all know which is the "true" history of the Sex Pistols, even though they gave us a good show in Barcelona on July 2008, the first time they played in Spain. We were waiting for them!

Jon Azpiri, I like this story. It's good stuff. Ah! Slippy character our Johnny! And why not? He's essentially an entertainer - the Pistols always were - it was the dtusff that came just after the first wave of punk - where all the bands signed big deals immeadiatly - the Pistols first recording was after all on EMI - the second (not new) wave were the UK Post-Punk DIY bands who really did sit in the non-comercial underground - these were the true punks - let Johnny have his Holiday in the Sun - watch out you don't melt Johnny!

Taken at the Isle of Wight Festival earlier this year (2008) where Johnny Rotten headlined in front of thousands of festival goers. I think he'd had a few shandy's by this point.

Sex Pistols at their return gig in Brixton academy in 2007. Very strange gig as punks in their 40s are not the best looking people you ever came accross!! Also not very used to this scene, I was a little surprised o discover hat punk fans rather enjoy spitting on their favourite singer!!

I worked with Johnny 'Rotten' Lydon on a Discovery Channels TV Series as a Producer and Photographer, and Johnny Rotten was everything that you have seen, heard and if you were lucky enough to survive, witnessed first hand. He has not lost any of his wit, biting sarcasm or dark sense of humor. I barely made it out alive, but it was an experience that I will always remember.
