People always complain about how they have to pull all nighters at school, or at home. That or they're the type of student who doesn't go home under the facade of "studying" when all they are really doing is chilling on campus. Campus in Surrey at night is usually buzzing with students, well during project times anyways. But hang around enough and you'll get to know the regulars. There's Brian (our esteemed IATSU prsident), Anna, Yoshi, Nabil, Michael (when he's back from Co-op), Jon (the alien from the Burnaby campus), and many others that I don't know. Hang around and introduce yourselves, and it won't be such a bummer to be on campus. Oh yes, I forgot one important person. Well, not THAT important. You can normally tell when its project time when you see a familiar purple Acura TL sitting in a parking spot near the front door during the night, or early morning. That car belongs to Nathan. I always am amazed when I get to school in the morning and there's no TL.

There is a certain camaraderie with those who stay at night. When people get hungry, there's runs to 7-11, Knight and Day, and various other 24-hour resturants/shops. There was one time last year that we were even cooking in an electric skillet on campus. Yep, if there's projects, there will be food.

Pillows are a must if you stay on campus overnight. Sleeping bags are bonuses. From experience i can say that sleeping on the floor and/or on tables is not very comfortable. Sleeping sitting up doesn't help either. The best thing I have found, without a sleeping bag, is to take 3-4 PADDED chairs, line them up, and use them as a makeshift bed. As long as you don't move around much, you'll be ok.

Also, bundle up. It gets pretty cold on campus during the night. Can't explain why, but I guess its just because everything is shut down in the mall and campus can't contain the heat it produces. So the way to get around that is to shut yourself in a computer lab, make sure all the computers are on, and leave the windows shut. Computers generate heat, heat is trapped in the room, you've got a natural sauna.....well not quite that hot, but room temperature, or sometimes warmer depending if the computers are on overdrive (aka. animation projects).

The bar is a good place for late night food and drink, sure you can get drunk, but what's the point if you have work to do? A nice buzz would help though (Legal Disclaimer: I do not condone underage alcohol consumption). My favourite is Monday nights. Why? Half price wings. Few plates of wings (on average, two per person), and a couple pitchers of beer (or whatever you prefer), and you're good to go.

So yeah, campus isn't that bad at night. (I was not told to do this plug but) Heck, there's even a party on Halloween. Live DJ, food, dancing, etc. brought to you by your very own Surrey Campus Student Life Committee (see that? we even have a Campus Life committee).
